Sharing of my reading of excellent magazine to share it here for more people awareness.

Most people think that there is probably no other disease more frightening in name than the one that name starts with “C”. This is because we know that cancel kills and does it quickly and painfully but not many of us know exactly what it is or how it can affect us.

What is cancer and how does it begins?

Our body is full of trillions of cells. There are research shows that we have approx. 5 trillion cells at birth. Each and every cell is already pre-programmed to live, reproduce and die according to a precise schedule. When it is not needed, the cell will stop reproducing. Isn’t this amazing?

Sometimes, a cell may undergo some changes or we call it “mutation” to its DNA. As a consequences, the cell refuses to die or cease reproducing. Instead, it starts grow abnormally at different points in their life.

An introduction to what cancer is and how it is the by-product of broken DNA replication
Video Rating: 4 / 5

But, thank to our most gifted talent – a healthy immune system (if we maintain well), the immune system will help us detect these abnormal cell growths and remove them from our body. There are a troop of different types of military force (our immune cells) that safeguard us from various kinds of attack every second even when we are sleeping.

However, if we did not maintain our immune system probably, the immune system will become weak. Our immune cells are weak to fight against the abnormal cells. The growth of the cancer cells will become an open revolt. They clone copies of themselves and start travelling to other organs or tissues to cause more trouble to us.

In short, cancer represents a condition where mutated cells grow out of our control and go into a chaos-causing tumors. Tumors can be either benign or malignant. If the malignant cells are detected, it is what we call cancer.

Recently, i come across one great article from a subscribe magazine. I believe most people are aware of the wonders of algae to contribute to our immune system. However, most people are only aware of green algae, blue algae, spirulina. But, it seemed that people are not aware of this wonderful plant that i am going to introduce – Brown Algae.

There has been many researches revealed that phytochemicals (vital nutrients contains by plants to build our immune system) in brown algae to be of great potential for bones and the immune system. In one study, phlorotannin derivatives extractd from brown algae were shown to be promising for chornic joint diseases like arthritis.

In addition, Fucoxanthin that found in brown algae is one kind of phytochemical that can contribute to our bone health. Scientists found that fucoxanthin induces apoptosis of osteoclats, a group of cells in bone that carry out bone resorption (breaking down of bone).

Hence, brown algae is a good plant to maintain our bone health. Find out more what are the products of brown algae, you can always look for E-Excel products which I personally really benefited lots from.

Some varieties of barley are high in lysine, which is an essential amino acid the human body requires but not able to produce. To get more benefit out of barley, roast it.

A study reported that roasted barley has more valine and histidine – two of the eight essential amino acides – than unroasted barley.

Excessive cholesterol may have big impact on our physical health and trigger a number of chronic diseases, which cardiovascular diseases are the most common. Cholesterols can be classifed as “good” or “bad cholseerols.

Low density lipoproteins are commonly known as bad cholesterols as they will easily damage the inner membrane of our blood vessels. High density lipoproteins are known as good cholesterols, as they can remove the bad cholesterols from the vessel wall.

What you need to know about cholesterols:
Good Cholesterol:

Remove the bad cholesterols accumulating on the arterial wall

HDL lower than 35mg may cause cardiovascular diseases

HDL higher than 60mg may protect the heart

Every increment of 1 mg of HDL concetration blood stream will reduce the incidence of cardiovascular diseases by 2% to 3 %

Bad Cholesterol:

causing the cholesterols to accumulate on the arterial wall

may cause arteriosclerosis

higher LDL concentation may increase the incidence of cardiovascular diseases.

Dangeres of cholesterols:

Almost 46% of coronary heart disease patients have excessive blood cholesterol levels.

Lowering the blood cholesterol level will help reduce the incidence of coronary heart diseases. Lowering the cholesterol level by 10% at the age of 40 will reduce the fatality rate by 50%, while lowering the cholesterol level by 10% at the age of 70 will only reduce the fatality rate by 20%.

Reduce the accumulation of cholesterols on arterial wall will remarkably reduce the incidence and fatality rate of heart disease patients.

The 3 possible conditions of red blood cells in anaemia are:

1. Enlarged red blood cells

A malignant form of anaemia attributed to vitamin B12 and folic acid deficiency

2. Normal Size of Red Blood Cells

This happens in acute hemorrhage such as during a road accident, injury or surgery, as well as in anaemia caused by a combination of other chronic illnesses. The latter could be related to compromised functions of red blood cells due to chronic disease.

3. Smaller red blood cells

This could be further divided into thelassaemia and iron deficiency anaemia. The former is genetically inherited while the latter is owing to lower iron concentrations in the body.

Signs and symptoms of anaemia

1. Pallor: this is the most common sign in anaemic patients.

2. Lethargy and short breath: Also another common sign of anaemia, this is caused by insufficient air capacity oin the body

3. Compromised immunity and susceptibility to infections such as common cold

4. Passion for iced desserts yet intolerant of cold

5. Reduced learning ability: Growing children may suffer from poor concentration due to fatigue.

Our body makes interferons and interleukins. Both play important roles in the immune system.

Interferons and interleukins are types of cytokines – signals that stimulate and activate certain cells in the immune system.

Interferon provides non specific immunity. It main function is viral infections regardless of type A group of proteins produced early on in a viral infection. Interferon are the first line of defence of our immune system. Interferon stop viral replication. If our body cell is infected by a virus, it will releases minute amounts of interferon, which then attach themselves to neighbouring cells. This will prompt those neighbouring cells tos tart producing their own protective anitviral enzymes.

The results is impariment of the growth and replication of the atttacking virus. Interferon also kick starts other parts of the immune system. Interferon also has anti-tumor effects.

Interleukin is a group of proteins. It functions as chenmical messangers between cells. It ativates the “killer” activities of specific white blood cells in the immune system. Interleukin also regulates cell growth and is particularly important in stimulating immune responses, such as inflammation.
